My new year dreams

I Wanna use this medium to thank everybody that has been part of this blog since the beginning .it has not been easy but worth it.someone asked me why i painted my blog green and white and i replied that i am representing my great country Nigeria through online media,he smiled at me ,and i told him its not funny,i am proud to be a Nigerian ,see i am using green passport and not ready to change it.What he said to me was"i could feel it that you love nigeria so much,why dont you do another special thing apart from your blog since you are a techie,and he suggested social networking site for only naija people both home and abroad.I made my research and i actually found out that i can do it ,only it will require little stress but its something that i will love to do.So during my research i found out we can organise a social networking site that will allow anybody from any profession,be it a musician,a writer ,a songwriter,a music producer,a story writer to post their work for free for their friends to see ,just as a form of promotion ,and the site will also serves as mode of connection between new and old friends,latest naija entertainment news,current affairs,will also be featured.Dont think it looks like facebook,a non nigerian citizen is not welcome to register.
So people i need your advice on this project,i have always been thinking of doing something special for my fatherland and i think this is a good idea as we are entering the newyear.Please i need your advice on this and suggestions on what we are going to name the site(the web adress).I will be very glad to read different suggestions and opinions.Thanks so much and happy new year,cheers

Damage Control! Tiger Goes To “Rehab

A source says that Tiger Woods has entered a private, upscale rehabilitation facility in Arizona.

“He has been there for a few days since his handlers forced him to enter the program. They feel that if he blames his cheating on addiction, the public will forgive him.”

A stint in rehab for Tiger seems like the next logical step. After singer Eric Benet was caught in a much-publicized cheating scandal during his relationship with Halle Berry, he entered rehab for sexual addiction.

Arizona boasts two high-profile rehabilitation centers – Cottonwood de Tuscon and The Meadows in Phoenix. While it seems obvious that Tiger would be entering a facility for sex addiction, it was also reported that he had problems with prescription drug abuse, so it’s entirely possible that he’s being treated for multiple issues.

The source explains Woods’ motivation to get help:

“Tiger wants to get back on top. He agreed to put golfing on hold so he could show the world how badly he feels about what he’s done and to prove that he wants to correct the problems that led to his infidelity.”

Beyonce launches her fragrance "Heat"
Beyoncé’s first fragrance, Heat, doesn’t arrive in stores until February, but the singer has disclosed some details.

She took inspiration for the fragrance’s name from previous tours, explaining, “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat.’ Also, red is one of my favorite colors, as is gold.”

The singer looked to the past for the bottle’s design. “I wanted something with an antique yet modern feeling,” she said. “Even with my wardrobe, I always try to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, yet still timeless and classic.”

Beyoncé, who has been the face of Tommy Hilfiger’s True Star and Giorgio Armani’s Emporio Diamonds fragrances, said it was the first time she started from scratch on a project. “Everything, from the bottle design to the name and the ideas for the commercials–that’s me. When I commit to something, I do it 100 percent,” she said.

Tiger Spends Holidays With Mistress #1

I’m hearing that shamed golfer Tiger Woods spent the holidays canoodling with the mistress who started it all, Rachel Uchitel in Palm Beach this weekend.

Sources say that Tiger and Rachel attended a huge bash at a private mansion yesterday, where they were seen holding hands and mingling with the three hundred guests. They were also seen together Saturday night at the Everglades Club.

Nigeria Bomber’s Home Town Blames Foreign Schooling



For residents in his home town, it was foreign education, not his roots in Muslim northern Nigeria, that radicalized him and led him to try to blow up a U.S. passenger plane.

The 23-year-old London-educated Nigerian was charged on Saturday in the United States with trying to blow up Northwest Airlines flight 253 as it approached Detroit from Amsterdam on Christmas Day with almost 300 people on board.

The son of a highly respected banker, Abdulmutallab’s actions shocked Nigeria’s wealthy elite and residents in his family’s predominantly Muslim northern hometown of Funtua.

“Everyone knew the Mutallabs and the father is honest, generous, helpful and above all a prominent banker. I cannot see why his son should be involved in this act,” Funtua resident, Ibrahim Bello, 65, said.

Like other elders from the community, Bello said Abdulmutallab’s schooling abroad meant he had been brought up outside the customs of northern Nigeria, a region with a history of moderate Sufi Islam

But what i want to get out of this is ,what kind of mentality are all these nothern and islamic people have,so we spending millions of naira to study abroad are not going the right way or what?

It was a very busy holiday weekend at the box office, perhaps one of the busiest of all-time, as James Cameron's 3D outer-space epic Avatar just barely beats out three highly-anticipated new holiday films to take the number one spot in the box office for a second week in a row. The film, which is now in approximately 3,456 theaters enjoyed some terrific word-of-mouth making $21,701 per theater for an additional $75 million in its second week of release. In two weeks the movie has now made an estimated $212 million, which is very close to recouping its purported $237 million production budget and is posed to make back the estimated $150 million that 20th Century Fox spent on marketing and advertising. However, right on it's heels at second place was the long awaited, Guy Ritchie adapted, film of the classic Arthur Conan Doyle novels, Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role along with Jude law as his partner Watson and Rachel McAdams. The film, which was released in 3,626 theaters made a little over $18,000 per theater for a total of $65.3 million in it's first week

Rihanna has been reported getting into trouble with her record label after she poses in nothing but a skimpy pair of shorts for the cover of GQ magazine's January 2010 issue. According to Star Pulse, the 21-year-old Barbadian beauty has faced the wrath of her record label boss Antonio "L.A." Reid since the photoshoot was so raunchy.

The "Russian Roulette" hitmaker herself has admitted things got so steamy on the photo set that the head honco of Island Def Jam threatened to step in. Actress Brittany Murphy dies in LA at age 32

Brittany Murphy, the actress who got her start in the sleeper hit "Clueless" and rose to stardom in "8 Mile" before her movie roles declined in recent years, died Sunday in Los Angeles of what appeared to be natural causes, a Los Angeles County coroner's official said. She was 32.

Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Sally Stewart said.

Murphy was transported to the hospital after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. at the home she shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in the Hollywood Hills.

Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said Murphy apparently collapsed in the bathroom, and authorities were looking into her medical history.

An official cause of death may not be determined for some time, since toxicology tests will be required, but "it appears to be natural," Winter said. He said an autopsy was planned for Monday or Tuesday.

Winter said Murphy's family was cooperating with the coroner's investigation. Funeral arrangements have not been announced, he said.

Los Angeles police have opened an investigation into Murphy's death, Officer Norma Eisenman said. Detectives and coroner's officials were at Murphy and Monjack's home Sunday afternoon but did not talk to reporters. Paparazzi were camped outside the multistory home, located above the Sunset Strip.

Messages left for Murphy's manager and agent by The Associated Press were not immediately returned.

Neighbor Clare Staples said she saw firefighters working to resuscitate the actress Sunday morning. She said Murphy was on a stretcher and "looked as though she was dead at the scene."

Murphy's husband, wearing pajama bottoms and no shoes, appeared "dazed" as firefighters tried to save her, Staples said. "It's just tragic," she added.

TMZ.com first reported Murphy's death Sunday morning.

Murphy's father, Angelo Bertolotti, said he learned of her death from his son, the actress's brother, and was stunned.

"She was just an absolute doll since she was born," Bertolotti said from his Branford, Fla., home. "Her personality was always outward. Everybody loved her — people that made movies with her, people on a cruise — they all loved her. She was just a regular gal."

He said he hadn't heard much about the circumstances of Murphy's death. Bertolotti divorced her mother when Murphy was young and hadn't seen Murphy in the past few years. He said he used to be in the mob and served prison time on federal drug charges.

"She was just talented," Bertolotti said. "And I loved her very much."

Meanwhile, Murphy's publicist, Nicole Perna, said in a statement: "In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy."

Born Nov. 10, 1977, in Atlanta, Murphy grew up in New Jersey and later moved with her mother to Los Angeles to pursue acting.

Her career started in the early 1990s with small roles in television series, commercials and movies. She is best known for parts in "Girl, Interrupted," "Clueless" and "8 Mile.



Her on-screen work had lessened of late, but Murphy's voice gave life to numerous animated characters, including Luanne Platter on more than 200 episodes of Fox's "King of the Hill" and Gloria the penguin in the 2006 feature "Happy Feet."

She is due to appear in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming film, "The Expendables," set for release next year.

Her role in "8 Mile" led to more recognition, Murphy told AP in 2003. "That changed a lot," she said. "That was the difference between people knowing my first and last name as opposed to not."

Murphy credited her mother, Sharon, with being a key to her success.

"When I asked my mom to move to California, she sold everything and moved out here for me," Murphy said. "I was really grateful to have grown up in an environment that was conducive to creating and didn't stifle any of that. She always believed in me."

She dated Ashton Kutcher, who costarred with Murphy in 2003's romantic comedy "Just Married."

Kutcher sent a message on Twitter Sunday morning about Murphy's death: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine," Kutcher wrote. "My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon."

Jim Iyke says thank you

After 12 months of outstanding achievements, star actor, Jim Iyke is looking back, counting his blessings, and saying thank you to everyone that contributed one way or the other to his achievements in 2009.

“I will be an ingrate to let this month pass without saying thank you to producers that have given jobs. At the last count I’ve done over 45 movies and I’m currently shooting two of my own movies,” he said. Speaking further, the bad boy with good cause said, the press have been wonderful to him. “I want to say thank you to the journalists as well, they’ve been wonderful. I am grateful to them for keeping me in good light to the public.” To this end Jim is planning a tour of various media houses to personally say thank you and familiarize himself with members of the fourth estate.

The celebrated actor who also emerged the highest paid Glo Ambassador during the year says Glo deal is a major plus to him. ‘Globacom has demonstrated that it is truly a Nigerian company at heart. Their support meant a lot to me. I thank them too for contributing to my achievements in 2009.”

Jim, who is planning to release the video of Born to do this in January will be in Ghana on December 26 to host the Ovation Party. An offer he got after he was voted as the choice of the people in a voting process made open to the public.

As a way of rewarding himself, Jim’s company, Untamed Records has taken delivery of two cars, an escalade and a space bus, to mark the New Year. An unconfirmed report also has it that he is putting finishing touch to his country home in Anambra.

As a way of revamping his act, Jim will be releasing a comedy film which he is still shooting next year.

“I want my fans in Nigeria and across the globe to expect something spectacular from me next year. We already have plans to reenergize and re-strategize the brand. We thank you for your support this year and like Oliver Twist we ask for more in 2010,” he concluded.
